| Job Description/Duties |
| Key Responsibilities • Collaborate with OPD officers and City Attorney staff to identify nuisance businesses and properties used for prostitution or sexual exploitation. • Prepare and issue administrative citations to sex purchasers, traffickers, and property/business owners in violation of Oakland Municipal Code 9.08.260 and related ordinances • Assist in the assessment and processing of administrative fines, ensuring compliance with tiered penalty structures and local/state law. • Compile, organize, and analyze evidence and documentation related to enforcement actions. • Draft legal documents, correspondence, and memoranda supporting administrative proceedings and enforcement actions. • Maintain accurate records of citations, fines, and enforcement outcomes. Communicate with attorneys, OPD personnel, witnesses, and community stakeholders to gather information and prepare cases. • Provide strategic support to attorneys and enforcement staff in all phases of administrative proceedings. • Research relevant laws, regulations, and precedents; summarize findings for use in enforcement and litigation. • Support outreach and education efforts to inform affected businesses and individuals of their obligations under the law. |
| Job Criteria |
| Any combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the following minimum qualifications is acceptable. Bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree in any subject from an accredited college or university, or a certificate of completion of a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association, and one year experience as a paralegal or related field. Up to two years of experience may be substituted for education. OR High school diploma or general equivalency diploma and three years of law-related experience under the supervision of an attorney who has been an active member of the State Bar of California for at least the preceding three years.
