| University of California College of Law, San Francisco (“UC Law SF, formerly “UC Hastings”), located in downtown San Francisco, seeks applicants for appointment as the C. Keith Wingate Visiting Assistant Professor of Law (VAP) for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 academic years in the Center for Racial and Economic Justice (CREJ). The VAP position is a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position designed to support junior scholars, attorneys, or others interested in preparing for a career in legal teaching who intend to engage their research and teaching in the fields of racial and/or economic justice. A successful VAP candidate must demonstrate a commitment to legal teaching and scholarship that centers issues of race, identity, inequality, and marginalization. |
| Job Description/Duties |
| The CREJ VAP reports to the Provost & Academic Dean. During this two-year CREJ VAP appointment, the VAP will presumptively teach one course per semester. The VAP will also work collaboratively with the CREJ Director and CREJ-affiliated UC Law SF faculty to develop the VAP’s research portfolio and further the mission of CREJ. The VAP will also have access to UC Law SF faculty, who as mentors, will serve to introduce them to legal pedagogy, support their development of legal scholarship, and promote their engagement with the broader racial and/or economic justice community of scholars. The CREJ VAP program is also structured to connect VAPs with senior scholars in the field of racial and economic justice, e.g., by pairing them with a Wiley Manual Visiting Professor during the VAP term. The VAP position will begin on July 1, 2026, and end June 30, 2028. |
| Job Criteria |
